Job Summary
- The Head of Audit isresponsible for leading the internal audit function within an organization, ensuring effective governance, risk management, and internal control.
- This role involves planning and executing audits, managing the audit team, identifying and addressing potential risks, ensuring compliance, and communicating audit findings to senior management and the audit committee
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Leadership:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive internal audit strategy and annual audit plan aligned with organizational objectives.
- Lead and manage the internal audit team, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
- Foster a culture of risk awareness, ethical conduct, and continuous improvement within the audit function.
Audit Planning and Execution:
- Plan and execute internal audits across various areas, including financial, operational, and compliance audits.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential areas of concern and develop appropriate audit procedures.
- Oversee the execution of audits, ensuring timely completion, adherence to quality standards, and effective resource allocation.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with other departments, such as risk, legal, and compliance, to ensure a coordinated approach to risk management and control.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including senior management and the audit committee
Qualifications and Experience
- B.Sc / M.Sc Degree in Finance, Business or a related field
- Minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience in Internal Audit with at least 4-5 years managerial experience.
- Banking Experience is a MUST
- Professional Certification is an added advantage
- Strong understanding of CBN guidelines, IFRS and Risk-based Auditing.
