The Shop Floor Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily activities on the production floor, ensuring smooth workflow, optimal productivity, adherence to quality standards, and coordination between departments.
This role involves managing work schedules, tracking production progress, resolving issues promptly, and maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate daily operations on the shop floor to meet production targets and deadlines.
Monitor workflow and assign tasks to production staff accordingly.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
Report production updates, delays, or issues to management.
Maintain accurate records of materials usage, production output, and workforce attendance.
Liaise with warehouse, quality control, and maintenance teams to resolve bottlenecks.
Train and mentor new and existing shop floor staff as needed.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost-saving initiatives.
Conduct routine checks to ensure machinery and equipment are functioning properly.
Enforce company policies and safety procedures on the floor.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
Proficiency with basic computer and reporting tools.
Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Knowledge of production safety standards and manufacturing processes.
