About Company: Our Client is a company that specializes in trading and supplying energies across Africa, with the aim of ensuring a cleaner lower carbon product fill the energy market.
The Company is seeking to hire a Trade Finance Officer who will be responsible for facilitating financial transactions associated with importing and exporting of goods. The role involves working with commercial clients including government agencies and private companies.
Job Summary: As the Trade Finance Officer, you will be responsible for processing of Import and Export Letters of Credit in accordance with international rules and regulations to the end that it supports the business units and promotes good working relationship with the Bank’s clients. S/he will serve as a representative of the Client handling their interest in all transactions as they make agreement with trade partners.
The ideal candidate for this role should be able to perform tasks in the most effective and efficient manner with the highest level of customer service quality while ensuring that the related financial and operational risks are mitigated.
Key Responsibilities:
- Issuance of LCs or Bank Guarantees for the company purchases including negotiation with banks in order to place transactions under bilateral facilities.
- Issuance of the documentary instructions to the inspectors based on the requirements of the export letters of credit.
- Review of contracts for all transactions in accordance with company policy and procedure.
- Follow up with the inspectors in the preparation of the drafts of the documents.
- Preparation and dispatch of Invoices and Letters of Indemnity (or shipping documents) for payment under Documentary Letters of Credit received from our buyers.
- Upon the completion of STS/delivery operation, follow up on the issuance of the documents and in case of any mistakes, organize a re-issuance.
- Follow up with the delivery of the original documents ashore and further dispatch to other locations.
- Close co-operation with the company Deals Desk personnel to ensure any costs agreed by Trade Finance are allocated correctly to the separately maintained deal Profit and Loss accounts.
- Presentation of the documents under the export LCs.
- Follow-up with the advising/confirming banks the negotiation and discount.
- Checking of both import and export contracts and requesting for amendments where necessary.
- Negotiation of the wording of import LCs with the suppliers.
- Checking of the import documents, including invoices presented by the suppliers.
- Ensure close cooperation with financing and confirming banks in order to guarantee timely execution.
Requirements
- Minimum of Bsc. in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- MBA in Finance is preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience within a Trading Commodity Company/Financial Institution having gained a basic understanding of the principals surrounding Trade Finance instruments and their pitfalls.
- Well-organized, pro-active with a strong coordinating skill.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills with a high logical and critical fashion.
- Highly diligent and sharp eye for attention to details.
- Ability to take initiatives and not only work to, but also set their own quickly changing deadlines.
- A confident team player with the ability to adapt their interpersonal approach as the situation demands.
- Strong relationship building skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (particularly Word and Excel)
Key Relationship: Close liaison with teams in Geneva (Highly Preferred).
Benefits
Base Pay is N800,000.00 monthly net (Negotiable)
