Job Summary
- We are seeking an experienced and proactive Fiber Field Team Lead / Manager to supervise and coordinate a team of fiber field engineers responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic systems for residential, SME, and enterprise clients (FTTH, Backbone, P2P).
- The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong leadership, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership and Management:
- Supervise day-to-day activities of fiber field engineers and technicians across multiple projects.
- Assign tasks and monitor progress to ensure timely execution of installation and maintenance jobs.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to enhance technical capabilities and performance.
- Ensure accurate reporting from all field engineers (daily reports, fault reports, splicing records).
Project Oversight:
- Review and approve field survey reports, installation plans, and splicing schedules.
- Coordinate with other departments (network operations, customer service, enterprise support) to align field activities with business needs.
- Manage resource allocation (tools, vehicles, materials) for all field operations.
Technical Support:
- Assist team with complex troubleshooting, testing, and repair of fiber optic networks (using OTDR, Power Meter, VFL, etc.).
- Validate splicing and testing results; ensure accuracy and compliance with technical standards.
- Review completed work for quality assurance and ensure all installations meet safety and industry standards.
Customer Engagement:
- Handle escalated issues and complaints from customers with professionalism and efficiency.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through timely service delivery and issue resolution.
- Maintain clear communication with clients and stakeholders on project updates and timelines.
Compliance and Safety:
- Enforce adherence to company safety procedures, PPE usage, and compliance protocols on all job sites.
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure proper safety practices and quality standards are followed.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in industry regulations and standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- HND, B.Tech, or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
- 3 - 5 years experience in fiber optic network installation and maintenance.
- 1 - 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role within the telecoms industry (particularly ISP).
