To design, analyze, and oversee the construction of civil and structural engineering projects such as buildings, bridges, foundations, and other infrastructure.
The Civil/Structural Engineer ensures all projects meet technical standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review structural and civil designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications for various projects.
Perform structural analysis and ensure stability, strength, and rigidity of designed structures using software tools (e.g., STAAD Pro, ETABS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
Conduct site inspections, structural assessments, and supervise construction works to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., Eurocode, BS, ACI, Nigerian Codes).
Prepare and review Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and technical reports.
Support the preparation of tender documents, feasibility studies, and technical proposals.
Investigate structural failures, material deficiencies, or site-related issues and recommend solutions.
Participate in value engineering, cost-saving proposals, and risk assessments.
Liaise with regulatory authorities for necessary approvals and compliance documentation.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (Master’s Degree is an advantage).
Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in civil and structural design and supervision.
Proficient in structural design and analysis software (e.g., STAAD Pro, ETABS, SAFE, AutoCAD).
Solid knowledge of civil works including drainage, roads, foundations, and concrete works.
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and report-writing abilities.
Membership with a recognized professional body (e.g., NSE, COREN) is preferred.
Preferred Skills:
Experience working on multidisciplinary infrastructure or high-rise building projects.
Familiarity with construction site supervision and quality control procedures.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently or as part of a team.
Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green building principles is an added advantage.
