Job Summary




  • The Resident Parent is a key member of the Wellsprings Suites (WS) boarding team, responsible for the spiritual, academic, and emotional well-being of all resident students.

  • In partnership with the Residential Program Coordinator (RPC), and other house parents, this role helps to establish a Christ-centered, home-style environment that supports the holistic development of each student.

Key Responsibilities

Pastoral and Academic Care:




  • Create a nurturing, supportive environment similar to a Christian home.

  • Act in loco parentis, ensuring students’ academic, physical, emotional, and social well-being.

  • Foster open communication with students and remain accessible during duty hours.

  • Observe student behavior to identify strengths, areas for growth, and opportunities for development.



Health, Safety, and Supervision:




  • Collaborate with RPC to structure staff supervision and student safety protocols.Liaise with the Nurse regarding students’ health needs and promote healthy lifestyle choices.

  • Ensure respectful care of personal and shared property, including students’ belongings.



Behavioral Management and Routine:




  • Consistently enforce house rules, routines (e.g., bedtime, study hours), and expectations.

  • Cultivate responsible behavior and good study habits in a group-living setting.



Extracurricular Involvement and Enrichment:




  • Organize and oversee a well-rounded schedule of weekend and after-school activities.

  • Monitor academic performance weekly (e.g., via ALMA) and support students accordingly.

  • Provide counseling or guidance for academic, emotional, or behavioral concerns.

  • Escalate as needed.



Communication and Record-Keeping:




  • Maintain regular communication with parents about their child’s well-being and progress.

  • Keep accurate, confidential records of students’ academic, emotional, and behavioral development.

  • Comply with the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies.



Team Collaboration and Reporting:




  • Serve as the first point of contact for student matters, reporting to the RPC.

  • Submit weekly house reports, including achievements, concerns, and plans for improvement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the RPC or school leadership.



Qualifications & Experience




  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (Education, Psychology, or a related field preferred).

  • Prior experience working with adolescents in a school, boarding, or pastoral care setting is highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution skillsExperience in student mentoring, discipleship, or youth ministry is an added advantage.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

  • First Aid or Child Protection Certification (or willingness to obtain) is preferred.
