Job Summary




  • The Senior Officer, Business Development will play a strategic role in driving AYGF’s resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, and donor engagement efforts.

  • The position is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, leading proposal development, fostering donor and partner relationships, and ensuring alignment of business development activities with the organization’s mission, goals, and thematic priorities.

  • The role requires excellent communication, networking, analytical, and proposal writing skills.



Key Responsibilities




  • Lead and coordinate the development of high-quality concept notes and proposals.

  • Work closely with program and finance teams to ensure technical and budget compliance with donor requirements.

  • Maintain a pipeline of upcoming donor opportunities aligned with AYGF’s focus areas.

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective donors including bilateral, multilateral, corporate, and foundation partners.

  • Coordinate regular engagement meetings, donor updates, and reporting in collaboration Programs teams.

  • Represent AYGF at external meetings, donor forums, and networking events.

  • Contribute to the development and execution of AYGF’s fundraising strategy.

  • Identify and track emerging trends and opportunities in the development and humanitarian sectors.

  • Work with internal teams to ensure cross-departmental coordination on business development initiatives.

  • Support training and mentoring of staff on proposal writing and donor compliance.

  • Maintain a central database of funding opportunities, proposals, donor intelligence, and reporting deadlines.

  • Reporting &Documentation

  • Ensure timely submission of concept notes, proposals, and reports to donors and partners.



Qualifications and Experience




  • BSc. International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar role within the NGO/INGO sector.

  • Proven track record of winning grants from institutional donors.

  • Demonstrated skills in proposal writing, budgeting, donor reporting, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Strong understanding of development and humanitarian programming in Africa.

  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and project coordination abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant CRM or grants tracking tools.
