Responsibilities
Access Control:
- Monitoring and authorizing entrance/exit: Security guards control who enters and leaves a property, verifying identification and purpose.
- Maintaining visitor logs: They may keep records of individuals entering and exiting the premises, ensuring proper documentation.
- Operating gates and checkpoints: Guards may operate barriers or checkpoints to manage vehicle and pedestrian flow.
Surveillance and Monitoring:
- Patrolling premises: Regularly inspecting the property on foot or in a vehicle to identify potential security breaches or hazards.
- Monitoring surveillance cameras: Observing activity on CCTV systems to detect suspicious behavior or incidents.
- Responding to alarms: Investigating alarms, assessing the situation, and taking appropriate action.
- Securing doors and windows: Ensuring all entry points are properly secured, especially after hours.
Emergency Response:
- Responding to emergencies: Providing assistance during emergencies like fires, medical incidents, or security breaches.
- Coordinating with emergency services: Contacting and communicating with law enforcement, paramedics, or fire departments when necessary.
- Providing first aid: Administering basic first aid or CPR when needed.
Other Important Duties:
- Enforcing security policies: Ensuring that all individuals adhere to the rules and regulations of the property.
- Reporting incidents: Documenting all security-related incidents, suspicious activities, and safety hazards.
- Communicating effectively: Maintaining clear and concise communication with colleagues, supervisors, and the public.
- Deterring criminal activity: Being a visible presence to deter theft, vandalism, and other criminal acts.
- Maintaining security logs and reports: Keeping accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and security checks.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess an SSCE / GCE / NECO with 3 - 5 years of experience.
