Job Description
Summary
- The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of mechanical systems and equipment in the steel plant.
- This role involves maintaining, troubleshooting, designing, and improving mechanical processes related to steel manufacturing, with a strong focus on minimizing downtime and enhancing operational reliability.
- Monitor plant equipment performance and ensure minimum downtime.
- Lead a team of technicians and fitters; assign daily tasks and ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Coordinate with electrical and operations teams for integrated plant functioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment including rolling mills, conveyors, hydraulic systems, furnaces, cranes, pumps, compressors, and gearboxes.
- Perform root cause analysis for equipment failures and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize machine uptime.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or steel plant environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and thermodynamics.
- Solid understanding of industrial safety standards and preventive maintenance.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced industrial environment.
