Role Summary



We are seeking a diligent, detail‑oriented Internal Audit Officer to strengthen our internal control environment, safeguard company assets, and improve operational efficiency across all departments; editorial, production, warehousing, and finance. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical insight, solid accounting knowledge, and an unwavering commitment to integrity and compliance.



Responsibilities




  • Develop and implement annual audit plans based on risk assessment

  • Conduct operational and financial audits across departments

  • Review internal controls and ensure compliance with policies and procedures

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of controls in all publishing operations

  • Perform audits of inventory management and physical stock verification

  • Ensure accuracy in royalty calculations and author payments

  • Investigate variances and irregularities in accounting or inventory records

  • Identify process inefficiencies and recommend improvements

  • Conduct special investigations into suspected fraud or irregularities

  • Monitor implementation of audit recommendations

  • Prepare timely and accurate audit reports for management

  • Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required

  • Provide advisory support on internal control improvements

  • Perform continuous auditing and data analytics for control enhancement



Requirements and Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Banking & Finance, or a related field

  • Professional certification (ACA, ACCA, CISA, CIA) or in view

  • Minimum of 4 years cognate experience as an Internal Auditor or Accountant in a book publishing company or similar industry

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and auditing standards

  • Familiarity with Nigerian tax regulations, and publishing-specific financial operations

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively

  • Team player with a collaborative mindset

  • Proficient in Sage Accounting Software (a must)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and Google Workspace

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity

  • Knowledge of data analysis tools is an added advantage

  • Adaptable, versatile, and able to learn quickly.



Salary: 130,000 to 160,000 (Gross)
