Job Summary
- We are seeking a skilled Fiber Technician to join our team.
- The Fiber Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks, ensuring that all systems operate efficiently and effectively.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Configuration:
- Install and configure fiber optic systems and related equipment on customer premises.
- Conduct splice closures, terminations, and testing of fiber optics.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine maintenance on fiber optic networks to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fiber optic connectivity and network performance.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities, includingdocumenting diagrams and schematics.
- Provide detailed reports on work completed to management.
Customer Interaction:
- Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide effective solutions.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering quality service and support.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and company policies while working on-site.
- Ensure all work complies with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in fiber optics preferred.
Experience:
- Previous experience in fiber optic installation and troubleshooting is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with fiber optic testing equipment and tools.
Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of fiber optics and networking principles.
- Proficient in using fusion splice and OTDR equipment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of working in various environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work on ladders or at heights.
