  • These are strategic positions that require a deep understanding of peacebuilding principles, extensive experience in the target locations, and a proven track record of implementing gender-sensitive and protection-focused interventions.

  • The successful candidates will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and monitoring programs that empower women, prevent and respond to gender-based violence, and strengthen community-based protection mechanisms.

Key Responsibilities

Program Design and Implementation:

  • Lead the development and implementation of gender and protection programs tailored to the specific needs and context of women and girls in conflict-affected communities in Katsina or Kaduna.

  • Design and deliver trainings, workshops, and awareness campaigns on gender equality, women's empowerment, GBV prevention and response, and peacebuilding.

  • Ensure all program activities are gender-sensitive, conflict-sensitive, and adhere to international protection standards.

  • Support the establishment and strengthening of community-based protection mechanisms, including women's groups and networks.

Protection and GBV Response:

  • Identify and document protection risks and gender-based violence (GBV) incidents affecting women and girls.

  • Facilitate safe and confidential referral pathways for survivors of GBV, ensuring access to essential services (medical, psychosocial, legal, etc.).

  • Provide direct psychosocial support or facilitate access to such support for women and girls affected by conflict and violence.

  • Lead awareness-raising campaigns to challenge harmful gender norms and promote positive masculinities.

Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion:

  • Integrate gender and protection considerations into peacebuilding initiatives, promoting the meaningful participation of women in conflict resolution and mediation processes.

  • Facilitate inter and intra-community dialogues aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence and social cohesion, with a particular focus on women's perspectives.

  • Support initiatives that empower women as agents of peace and promote their leadership in peacebuilding efforts.

Partnership and Coordination:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local authorities, civil society organizations, humanitarian actors, and other relevant stakeholders in Katsina/Kaduna.

  • Represent Bincike International in relevant coordination meetings, technical working groups, and forums at the local and state levels.

  • Collaborate with other Bincike International teams to ensure integrated programming and maximum impact.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Contribute to the development of robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks, ensuring the collection of gender-disaggregated data.

  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to project sites to assess progress, identify challenges, and ensure quality implementation.

  • Prepare timely and high-quality progress reports, success stories, and case studies that highlight the impact of interventions on women and girls.

  • Contribute to the analysis of conflict dynamics and gender issues within the project areas.

Capacity Building:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to local partners and community volunteers on gender, protection, and peacebuilding principles.

  • Develop and deliver training modules to enhance the capacity of project staff and partners.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, Peace and Conflict Studies, International Development, Human Rights, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience working on gender, protection, and peacebuilding projects, specifically with women and girls in conflict settings.

  • Vast experience in Peace Building Projects is essential.

  • Demonstrable working experience and in-depth understanding of the socio-cultural and political context of Katsina State or Kaduna State (depending on the desired location) is mandatory. This includes familiarity with local conflict dynamics, community structures, and existing protection mechanisms.

  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training on GBV prevention and response, gender equality, and peacebuilding.

  • Strong understanding of international humanitarian and human rights standards, particularly those related to gender and protection.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team in challenging and dynamic environments.

  • Proficiency in English and local languages relevant to Katsina/Kaduna (e.g., Hausa) is highly desirable.

  • Strong report writing and analytical skills.
