Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Technician to join our dedicated facility management team. The Electrical Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment within the facilities we manage. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical codes, safety regulations, and a proven ability to perform both routine and emergency electrical work effectively and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Maintenance:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, control equipment, and other electrical systems following relevant codes (e.g., Nigerian Electrical Installation Regulations, BS 7671) and safety standards.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on electrical systems, including switchgear, panels, lighting, generators, UPS systems, and distribution boards, to ensure continuous operation and minimize downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections of electrical infrastructure to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions.
Troubleshooting & Repair:
- Diagnose and resolve electrical problems using appropriate testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers).
- Execute timely and effective repairs of faulty electrical components, wiring, and equipment.
- Respond promptly to emergency electrical breakdowns and ensure quick restoration of services.
Safety & Compliance:
- Adhere strictly to all electrical safety procedures, policies, and regulations.
- Ensure all electrical work is performed safely, minimizing risks to personnel and property.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and electrical system specifications.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local and national electrical codes and standards.
System Upgrades & Improvements:
- Assist in planning and implementing electrical system upgrades, modifications, and expansions.
- Propose and implement solutions to improve energy efficiency and system reliability.
Qualifications:
- OND/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Electronics, or a related technical field from a recognized institution.
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., Trade Test I, II, III in Electrical Installation) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience as an Electrical Technician in a facility management, commercial building, or industrial setting.
- Demonstrable experience with both low voltage and medium voltage electrical systems.
- Experience with generator maintenance, ATS/MTS troubleshooting, and UPS systems is essential.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong practical knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficient in using electrical testing tools and equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and electrical diagrams.
- Solid understanding of electrical safety practices and procedures.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work effectively in a team
