Job Summary




  • The Mayonnaise Chemical Room Officer is responsible for the precise handling, preparation, and measurement of all raw materials and additives required in the production of mayonnaise. The role ensures all formulations are accurately followed, materials are hygienically managed, and safety procedures are strictly adhered to within the chemical room.

The key result areas of this role are:




  • Accuracy in Material Preparation: Zero deviation in measured quantities or batch formulations.

  • Compliance with Safety Standards: No breaches of chemical handling or safety procedures.

  • Inventory Control: Reduced material losses and proper documentation.

  • Operational Efficiency: Consistent availability of ingredients to support uninterrupted production.



Responsibilities




  • Measure and weigh raw materials according to the Bill of Materials (BOM) and production specifications.

  • Prepare premixes and emulsifiers required for mayonnaise production.

  • Monitor and document chemical room activities, including material usage, losses, and returns.

  • Ensure timely delivery of prepared ingredients to the production area to avoid downtime.

  • Maintain accurate labeling and traceability of all materials and containers.

  • Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Conduct visual and physical checks on materials before use.

  • Collaborate with quality control and production teams to ensure compliance and efficiency.

  • Report any irregularities, spillages, or material issues to the Production Supervisor promptly.

  • Housekeeping and Sanitation: 

  • Ensure a clean and organized chemical room at all times.

  • Sanitize equipment and surfaces before and after use.

  • Dispose of empty containers and waste following environmental and company policies.

  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain personal hygiene.

  • Participate in routine cleaning schedules and hygiene audits.



The Person




  • BSc/HND or ND equivalent in Food Science, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry; additional technical education or certification in food processing is a plus.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years in a food processing or a similar role within the food manufacturing industry. 

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Knowledge of food-grade chemical handling and storage.

  • Familiarity with HACCP, ISO, and GMP practices.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety regulations.

  • Analytical and numerical skills: the ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to lead and supervise a team effectively
