Job Description
The Vulcanizer is responsible for repairing, maintaining, and servicing tyres and rubber components of vehicles, equipment, and machines. The role involves identifying tyre faults, patching or replacing damaged parts, performing wheel balancing and alignment, and ensuring tyres meet safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and diagnose tyre wear, damage, or pressure problems.
- Repair punctures, tears, and leaks in tyres using vulcanizing methods.
- Operate vulcanizing and tyre repair equipment safely and effectively.
- Remove, replace, and rotate tyres for vehicles and production equipment.
- Perform wheel balancing and alignment tasks when required.
- Monitor and maintain tyre inventory and report worn-out or unsafe tyres.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services.
- Ensure all tyre work meets company and safety standards.
- Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
Education & Qualifications:
- SSCE / OND or Trade Test Certification in Mechanical Work, Tyre Repair, or related fields.
- Training in vulcanizing or automotive maintenance is an added advantage.
Experience:
- 2 – 4 years of relevant experience as a vulcanizer in a workshop or manufacturing/automotive environment.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in tyre repair, vulcanizing tools, and equipment.
- Knowledge of tyre types, sizes, and pressure requirements.
- Ability to identify tyre faults and perform appropriate repairs.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Good manual dexterity and physical strength.
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
