Job Description
The Panel Beater will be responsible for repairing, reshaping, and replacing damaged or defective vehicle panels, metal parts, and body components. The role requires technical expertise in metalwork, welding, and the use of specialized tools to ensure high-quality and precise body repairs that meet manufacturing and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess damaged panels and body parts to determine repair methods.
- Repair or replace damaged panels using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Remove dents through hammering, planishing, or filling techniques.
- Cut, weld, and join panels as required.
- Operate welding and metal shaping equipment safely and efficiently.
- Fit and align new panels with precision to factory standards.
- Smooth surfaces for painting using sanding, grinding, and filling materials.
- Ensure all repair work meets quality control and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Record job details, including materials used and time taken.
Job Requirements:
Education & Qualifications:
- SSCE / OND / Trade Test Certification in Automotive Bodywork, Metal Fabrication, or related fields.
- Apprenticeship or technical training in panel beating is an added advantage.
Experience:
- 2 - 5 years of proven experience as a Panel Beater in a manufacturing or automotive repair environment.
Skills & Competencies:
- Skilled in metalwork, welding, and body repair techniques.
- Proficient in the use of tools such as hammers, dollies, welding equipment, and spray guns.
- Good knowledge of vehicle structures and body components.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and repair manuals.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy tools and materials.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
