Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented accountant to support and manage the company’s financial operations. This role is critical to ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in a dynamic, inventory-driven environment. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in accounting within the trading or retail sector and will be skilled in handling cost analysis, inventory accounting, and supplier/vendor reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Monitor inventory movement and perform periodic stock reconciliations across warehouses and showrooms.
- Ensure accurate recording of cost of goods sold (COGS), purchase orders, and landed costs.
- Support pricing and margin analysis on products like tiles, doors, and bathroom fittings.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Reconcile supplier accounts and manage payment schedules.
- Monitor customer receivables and follow up on overdue balances.
- Ensure accurate posting of invoices, credit notes, and receipts.
Cash Flow & Banking Operations
- Manage daily banking transactions and reconcile bank statements.
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and assist in managing liquidity needs.
- Work closely with sales and procurement teams to optimize cash usage.
Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Assist in developing annual budgets and monitoring actual performance against forecasts.
- Provide variance analysis and support cost control efforts across departments.
- Collaborate with procurement and warehouse teams to align financial planning with inventory management.
Internal Controls & Process Improvements
- Strengthen internal controls around financial processes, particularly inventory and sales.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting operations and improve reporting efficiency.
- Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all transactions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a trading or distribution company.
- Solid understanding of inventory accounting and retail/trading financial operations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 50 and Zoho).
- Strong command of Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, integrity, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
