- The Research Assistant will provide vital support to supervising faculty by contributing to various research-related activities, including data collection, analysis, and publication preparation.
- The role requires strong quantitative and qualitative research skills, organizational capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- The Research Assistant will collaborate with faculty to produce high-quality academic outputs while ensuring adherence to deadlines and research standards.
Job Description
The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Review and revise manuscript(s) for accuracy and quality.
- Ensure correct tone, voice, clarity, flow and structure of manuscript(s).
- Communicate and work with author(s) and production team to ensure that manuscripts are published in a timely manner.
- Review book proposals.
- Identify and follow up the scholarly peer-review of manuscripts.
- Write blurbs and artist briefs for cover designer.
- Discuss book project(s) with team.
- Compile and update style guide as required.
- Format and Layout manuscript(s) in Adobe InDesign
- Collaborate with team to come up with fresh and creative ideas, keeping audience in mind.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines.
- Assist in implementing the programmes, strategies of the PAU Press, and any other related duties as may be assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications
- A good first degree in Communication, Media, Social Science, Humanities or a related discipline.
- Membership or certification from any relevant professional body is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in data collation and analysis within a medium or large-scale organization or research institution.
Requirements/Competencies
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills.
- Proficiency in using software such as Excel, SPSS, and NVivo.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Advanced online research skills and proficiency in transcribing.
- Knowledge of proofreading, referencing standards, and fieldwork implementation.
- Familiarity with research methodologies and techniques.
