Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing prescription and non-prescription medications.
- Accurately measure, package, and label medications under supervision.
- Provide patients with basic drug information, usage instructions, and counseling (referring complex cases to the pharmacist).
- Maintain prescription records, billing, and patient files in line with regulations.
- Support stock management including ordering, receiving, storage, and monitoring of medicines.
- Check for and remove expired, damaged, or recalled medications.
- Ensure the pharmacy environment is clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Assist in compounding simple formulations (e.g., ointments, syrups) as directed by the pharmacist.
- Provide front-line customer service and handle inquiries courteously.
- Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and all pharmacy laws/regulations.
Qualifications and Skills
- A Diploma or Certificate in Pharmacy Technician studies from a recognized institution.
- Current registration with the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria (PCN) or relevant regulatory body.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling medications.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, dosage forms, and drug handling.
- Computer literacy (experience with pharmacy software is an advantage).
- Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
