Job Description

  • Vetsark supports poultry and aquaculture farmers in Nigeria with access to high-quality inputs, market linkages, and digital farm management systems. We currently serve farms across several states in Nigeria. As we expand, we seek a mid-level Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officer to strengthen data-driven decision-making, demonstrate impact to stakeholders, and continuously improve our farmer support models.

Key Responsibilities

Monitoring & Data Management (50%)

  • Design and implement a comprehensive MEL framework for Vetsark’s farmer financing, training, and offtake programs.

  • Track farmer production cycles, repayment trends, yields, and market performance across poultry and aquaculture farms and clusters.

  • Maintain real-time databases (Excel/Google Sheets/CRM tools) to ensure accurate and timely data entry by field agents.

  • Conduct regular field visits to verify data, monitor farmer compliance, and assess project quality.

Evaluation & Impact Measurement (25%)

  • Develop indicators to measure farm productivity, profitability, repayment performance, and farmer livelihoods.

  • Conduct baseline, midline, and endline evaluations for donor-funded projects.

  • Prepare detailed reports and dashboards showing economic, social, and environmental outcomes.

Internal Learning and Program Improvements (15%)

  • Facilitate periodic learning reviews with departments to identify gaps and improvements.

  • Help Vetsark refine its program model by translating MEL insights into actionable feedback for farmer-facing teams. This feedback should highlight successes and pinpoint challenges or key questions to address.

  • Support training programs by translating MEL insights into farmer-friendly learning content.

  • Prepare MEL reports for internal management, external partners, and investors.

External Knowledge Sharing (10%)

  • Generate case studies, success stories, and lessons learned to communicate Vetsark’s impact to funders, partners, and investors.

  • Provide evidence to support fundraising proposals, investor pitches, and grant applications.

  • Ensure alignment with international standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Economics, Statistics, Social Sciences, or related field.

  • 3+ years’ experience in monitoring, evaluation, data analysis, or impact assessment (agriculture/agribusiness preferred).

  • Strong quantitative skills (Excel, SPSS, STATA, PowerBI or similar).

  • Demonstrated ability to design MEL frameworks and analyze field data.

  • Experience working with farmers, cooperatives, or development projects is an advantage.

  • Strong report writing and presentation skills.

Competencies

  • Analytical thinker with attention to detail.

  • Strong communicator with ability to simplify data for farmers, management, and donors.

  • Self-starter, able to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Excellent team player and highly collaborative.

  • Passionate about agriculture, financial inclusion, and farmer prosperity.
