Job Description
Responsibilities
- Conduct topographic, underground, and surface surveys of mining areas
- Prepare and update mine plans, sections, and maps using CAD and GIS software
- Monitor excavation progress and ensure alignment with design specifications
- Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and operations teams to support planning and development
- Maintain accurate records of survey data and produce technical reports
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian mining laws and safety regulations
- Assist in volume calculations for ore and waste material
- Operate and maintain surveying instruments such as GPS, total stations, and laser scanners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Surveying, Geomatics, Mining Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 1 year experience in mine surveying, preferably in iron ore or other mineral extraction
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Surpac, or similar mining software
- Strong understanding of mining operations and safety protocols
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in remote and physically demanding environments
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Membership with a recognized surveying or mining professional body (e.g., NIS, NMGS)
- Experience with drone-based survey techniques and 3D modeling.
