Job Purpose




  • The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects, from initial estimates to final figures.

  • The role ensures that projects are completed within budget while meeting quality standards and complying with legal and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities




  • Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents for projects.

  • Provide accurate project cost forecasting and budgeting throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Conduct feasibility studies and advise on procurement strategies.

  • Monitor and control project expenditures to ensure alignment with budget.

  • Evaluate and negotiate contract terms with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.

  • Certify contractors’ interim and final payments.

  • Conduct site visits to assess progress, variations, and claims.

  • Prepare cost and financial reports for management.

  • Provide advice on cost-effective construction methods, materials, and alternatives.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and health & safety regulations.

  • Liaise with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.



Key Requirements




  • Education & Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.

    • Membership of a recognized professional body (e.g., NIQS, RICS) is an added advantage.



  • Experience:

    • 3 – 5 years’ post-graduate experience in cost estimation, project costing, and contract administration.

    • Experience in real estate development, construction, or infrastructure projects.





Skills & Competencies:




  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., QS tools, MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project).

  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
