The Laundry Attendant will be responsible for ensuring that all hospital linens, uniforms, and patients’ clothing are properly collected, cleaned, disinfected, ironed, and neatly stored or distributed. The role requires attention to hygiene standards, timeliness, and efficient handling of laundry to support patient care and hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, sort, and wash hospital linens, uniforms, and patient clothing.
Operate washing machines, dryers, and ironing/pressing equipment safely.
Ensure proper disinfection and stain removal in line with hospital hygiene standards.
Fold, store, and distribute clean laundry to the appropriate hospital departments.
Keep accurate records of laundry collection and distribution.
Report any damaged or missing linens/uniforms to the supervisor.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the laundry area.
Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.
Requirements:
Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent qualification.
Prior experience as a Laundry Attendant, preferably in a healthcare setting, is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of laundry equipment and fabric care.
Ability to work efficiently, follow instructions, and pay attention to detail.
Good physical stamina and ability to lift or move loads as required.
Strong sense of cleanliness, hygiene, and responsibility.
