Job Summary:

• The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for conducting a wide range of diagnostic laboratory tests to support patient care and clinical decision-making. The role requires accuracy, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment in line with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic tests including hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, serology, parasitology, and blood bank procedures.


• Collect, prepare, and analyze patient specimens with a high degree of accuracy.


• Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and safe use of laboratory equipment.


• Interpret and validate test results, ensuring accuracy before reporting.


• Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records and reports.


• Enforce infection control and safety protocols within the laboratory.


• Participate in quality assurance, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement activities.


• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide diagnostic support.


• Supervise and guide laboratory technicians and trainees when required.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) from a recognized institution.


• Current practicing license with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).


• Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience (hospital laboratory experience preferred).


• Strong technical knowledge in multiple laboratory disciplines.


• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.


• Ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision.


• Commitment to high standards of patient safety and confidentiality.
