The Medical Laboratory Scientist will be responsible for conducting a wide range of diagnostic laboratory tests to support patient care and clinical decision-making. The role requires accuracy, adherence to quality standards, and the ability to operate and maintain laboratory equipment in line with hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform diagnostic tests including hematology, microbiology, clinical chemistry, serology, parasitology, and blood bank procedures.
Collect, prepare, and analyze patient specimens with a high degree of accuracy.
Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and safe use of laboratory equipment.
Interpret and validate test results, ensuring accuracy before reporting.
Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records and reports.
Enforce infection control and safety protocols within the laboratory.
Participate in quality assurance, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement activities.
Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide diagnostic support.
Supervise and guide laboratory technicians and trainees when required.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) from a recognized institution.
Current practicing license with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience (hospital laboratory experience preferred).
Strong technical knowledge in multiple laboratory disciplines.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and with minimal supervision.
