Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Home Economics Teacher to join our educational institution in Benin City, Nigeria. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspiring and educating students in various aspects of home economics, including cooking, nutrition, sewing, and household management.

• Develop and implement engaging curriculum and lesson plans for home economics classes


• Teach practical skills in cooking, nutrition, sewing, and household management


• Incorporate local Nigerian culture and cuisine into the curriculum


• Manage classroom activities and maintain a positive learning environment


• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback


• Organize and supervise practical sessions in cooking and sewing labs


• Teach financial literacy and budgeting skills to students


• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to enhance the overall educational experience


• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and school events


• Stay updated on current trends and best practices in home economics education

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field


• Valid teaching certification or license


• Proven teaching experience in home economics or related subjects


• Strong knowledge of curriculum development and lesson planning


• Excellent cooking and nutrition skills


• Proficiency in sewing and textile work


• Ability to teach budgeting and financial literacy concepts


• Exceptional classroom management and organizational skills


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


• Familiarity with the educational system in Nigeria


• Knowledge of Nigerian culture, cuisine, and local family structures


• Proficiency in using educational technology and software
