Job Description

Job Description

  • Renda is seeking a smart, detail-oriented Legal Counsel to join our team.

  • You will support day-to-day legal operations across our SCALE and Fulfillment business units, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, managing contracts, overseeing litigation matters, and providing legal and company secretariat support across operational functions.

  • This is a mid-level role ideal for someone with both law firm and in-house experience, particularly in fast-paced, high-growth sectors such as logistics, e-commerce, fintech, or technology.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Advisory & Support

  • Provide sound legal advice on company operations, employee matters, commercial decisions, and new business initiatives.

  • Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for business implications, especially relating to value-added services, logistics operations, and fintech-related transactions.

Contract & Documentation Review

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements, including service-level agreements (SLAs), vendor/supplier contracts, NDAs, employment contracts, and partnership agreements.

  • Ensure contract templates are current and compliant with legal standards.

Compliance & Regulatory Support

  • Monitor and interpret legal and regulatory changes that affect business activities.

  • Support internal teams with compliance requirements (e.g., data protection, tax, licenses, financial regulations).

  • Assist in preparing documentation for compliance audits and regulatory submissions.

Dispute, Litigation & Risk Management

  • Manage and oversee litigation matters, including pre-action processes, court proceedings, and settlement negotiations.

  • Collaborate with external counsel, prepare case strategies, and support hearings or arbitration when required.

  • Identify legal risks and recommend mitigation steps for operational and transactional matters.

Corporate & Company Secretariat Support

  • Maintain and organize legal documentation and filings.

  • Support with board documentation, meeting resolutions, shareholder communications, and regulatory filings (e.g., CAC, SEC, NAFDAC, CBN, where applicable).

  • Ensure statutory compliance with corporate governance requirements and maintain company registers.

  • Provide company secretariat support to the Board of Directors and relevant committees.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) and a valid B.L (Nigerian Law School qualification).

  • 4 – 7 years of post-call experience, ideally combining both law firm and in-house legal work.

  • Experience in corporate commercial law, contract drafting, regulatory advisory, litigation, and company secretariat functions.

  • Familiarity with logistics, mobility, supply chain, fintech, or tech-enabled services is an added advantage.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks with deadlines.

  • Proficiency in legal research, Microsoft Office, and document management tools.

  • High ethical standards and a proactive, business-friendly mindset.
