Job Description
Job Purpose
- To provide strategic leadership and oversight of all engineering construction activities, with responsibility for planning, execution, supervision, and quality assurance of road and building projects.
- The role ensures projects are delivered within scope, cost, time, and quality requirements, while driving innovation, safety, and compliance with engineering and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction for engineering and construction projects from initiation to completion.
- Develop and implement project strategies, execution frameworks, and technical standards.
- Oversee site supervision and project execution, ensuring compliance with approved designs, specifications, and industry standards.
- Review and approve designs, technical/ construction documentation, method statements, and inspection/test plans (ITPs).
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and technical support to engineers, project managers, and site staff.
- Lead quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) processes across all construction activities.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery within budget, time, and quality expectations.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to project managers, engineers, and site staff.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, regulators, and other stakeholders to resolve technical, contractual, and operational matters.
- Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and company policies.
- Monitor project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and adoption of modern engineering practices.
- Prepare weekly executive-level reports and provide strategic recommendations to management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: B.Sc./B.Eng. in Civil Engineering or related field (M.Sc./MBA is an added advantage).
- Professional Certification: COREN, NSE, or equivalent recognized professional registration.
- Minimum of 15 years’ progressive experience in road and building construction management, with hands-on site engineering background.
- Proven track record in site supervision, project execution, and compliance with engineering standards.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Advanced knowledge of construction methodologies, project management frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in engineering/project management software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
