Summary




  • The Head of Procurement will be responsible for leading, developing, and executing the procurement strategy to ensure cost-effective purchasing, supplier management, and contract negotiations.

  • This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive efficiency while ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.



Responsibilites

Strategic Procurement & Planning:




  • Contribute to the development and drive implementation of a robust procurement strategy aligned with FrieslandCampina’s objecives

  • Drive cost optimization through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and process improvements.

  • Monitor industry trends, risks, and opportunities to strengthen procurement practices.



Supplier & Vendor Management:




  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and competitiveness.

  • Evaluate, negotiate, and manage contracts, ensuring favorable terms and compliance.

  • Lead supplier performance reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.



Operations & Process Optimization:




  • Oversee procurement operations across all categories (direct and indirect spend).

  • Ensure timely availability of materials, products, and services while minimizing risk and cost.

  • Implement technology and tools to improve procurement efficiency, transparency, and reporting.



Governance, Compliance & Risk Management:




  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, legal, and regulatory requirements.

  • Establish and monitor KPIs for procurement performance.

  • Manage risks related to supply chain disruptions, pricing volatility, and contractual obligations.



Leadership & Team Development:




  • Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.

  • Promote collaboration with finance, operations, supply chain, and other business units.

  • Drive capability development within the procurement function.



Qualifications & Requirements




  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage).

  • Professional certifications (e.g., CIPS) strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 - 12 years of progressive procurement/supply chain experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and cost optimization.

  • Strong knowledge of procurement best practices, contract law, and compliance requirements.

  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical mindset with proficiency in procurement systems/ERP tools.
