  • Position: Geoscientist

  • Job Type Full Time

  • Qualification BA/BSc/HND

  • Experience 5 years

  • Location Lagos

  • Job Field

JOB SUMMARY

  • The Junior Geoscientist provides technical support in the evaluation of subsurface data to aid hydrocarbon exploration, development, and production activities.

  • Working under the guidance of senior geoscientists, the role involves gathering, interpreting, and integrating geological and geophysical data to build reservoir models, identify drilling opportunities, and support field development planning.

  • The position is designed to build foundational expertise in geoscience while contributing to multidisciplinary project teams focused on safe, efficient, and sustainable resource development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Geological and Geophysical Analysis:

  • Good understanding of Seismic interpretation, acquisition, seismic processing and special G&G (Fault seal, pore pressure, AVO, Seismic Inversion) studies methodologies.

  • Support comprehensive geological and geophysical analysis of prospective areas to identify potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.

  • Utilize seismic data, well logs, and geological maps to interpret subsurface structures and depositional environments.

Reservoir Characterization:

  • Evaluate reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation using geological and geophysical data.

  • Utilize advanced reservoir modelling techniques to quantify hydrocarbon reserves and predict reservoir performance.

Prospect Evaluation:

  • Generate geological and petrophysical models to support prospect ranking and portfolio management decisions.

  • Assess the economic viability and risk associated with drilling prospects by integrating geological, geophysical, and engineering data.

Drilling Support:

  • Provide technical support during drilling operations by analyzing real-time data and providing geological and geophysical interpretations to optimize well placement and minimize drilling risks.

Field Development Planning:

  • Collaborate with reservoir engineers and production teams to develop field development plans that maximize hydrocarbon recovery and optimize production rates.

Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate geological and geophysical data records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Utilize data management systems to organize and archive seismic, well, and production data for future analysis.

Technical Presentations:

  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal stakeholders and external partners to communicate project findings, recommendations, and insights effectively.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Knowledge, experience and proficiency demonstrated in all the activities described above.

  • Proficiency in geological and geophysical interpretation software such as Petrel, Kingdom, Techlog or GeoFrame.

  • Strong understanding of seismic interpretation techniques, well log analysis, and reservoir characterization methods.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and make data-driven decisions.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in upstream oil & gas exploration and development
