Job Summary




  • We require the services of Data Protection Officer for immediate employment. Proximity to the location will be an advantage. Candidates living at Magodo, Ojota, Ketu, Berger and its environs will be considered.



Responsibilities

Compliance & Governance:




  • Monitor compliance with data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, NDPR) and internal policies.

  • Develop and update data protection policies, procedures, and privacy notices tailored to logistics operations.

  • Conduct regular data protection impact assessments (DPIAs), especially in areas like GPS tracking, customer data, and cross-border transfers.



Advisory Role:




  • Advise management and employees on data protection obligations.

  • Provide expert guidance on new projects, systems, and technologies to ensure privacy by design and default.



Data Subject Rights:




  • Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) in line with legal timelines.

  • Ensure transparent communication with clients, employees, and third parties regarding their data rights.



Risk Management & Incident Response




  • Lead investigations and response to personal data breaches, ensuring timely notification to regulators and affected individuals.

  • Maintain breach registers and coordinate corrective actions.



Training & Awareness:




  • Develop and deliver staff training programs on data protection, confidentiality, and cybersecurity awareness.

  • Foster a culture of data protection compliance across the company.



Stakeholder Engagement:




  • Act as the main contact point for supervisory authorities, regulators, and data subjects.

  • Liaise with IT, operations, HR, and legal teams to ensure consistent data protection practices.



Qualifications




  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, IT, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Professional certification in Data Protection/Privacy (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, GDPR Practitioner, NDPR Compliance).

  • Additional certification in information security (e.g., ISO 27001, CISM, CISSP) is an advantage.



Experience:




  • 1–3 years’ experience in data protection, compliance, legal, or information security roles.

  • Prior experience in logistics, supply chain, or transportation industry preferred.

  • Proven track record of implementing compliance frameworks and managing audits.



Skills & Competencies:




  • Strong knowledge of GDPR, NDPR, and international data protection frameworks.

  • Excellent understanding of data processing within logistics operations (e.g., shipment tracking, customer databases, cross-border data flow).

  • Risk management, investigation, and reporting skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for advising staff and engaging regulators.

  • Analytical mindset with high attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Remuneration

N200,000 monthly.
