Responsibilities
Incident & Problem Management
- Respond to and resolve escalated infrastructure issues from L1 support.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
- Collaborate with L3 engineers and vendors for complex issue resolution.
Infrastructure Operations
- Monitor and maintain servers, storage, network devices, and cloud (Azure) infrastructure.
- Perform routine maintenance, patching, and upgrades across systems.
- Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity operations.
- Develop and execute daily maintenance scripts for preventive monitoring and reporting.
Automation & Scripting
- Create and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to automate operational tasks.
- Support deployment and configuration of infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external frameworks (ISO 27001, PCI-DSS).
- Participate in audits and provide technical evidence as required.
Collaboration & Mentorship
- Partner with application support, DevOps, and security teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing within the team.
- Contribute to change management and release planning processes.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- 4-year degree in Information Science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- ITIL Certification (Foundation or Expert v3 / Managing Professional / Master preferred).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
- Oracle Certified Professional – Oracle Linux or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Architect.
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
- VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV).
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) (for RKE pods).
Experience & Skills
- 4+ years of experience in IT infrastructure support or systems administration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux servers, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and networking.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid environments.
- Skilled with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira).
- Familiarity with FinTech or banking compliance standards is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a process-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-compliance environments.
- Multi-country or Pan-African experience is advantageous.
