Responsibilities
- Define and drive the mobile engineering vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise and digital channels strategy.
- Stay ahead of emerging mobile technologies and trends, including cross-platform frameworks, super-app ecosystems, 5G, and AI in mobile.
- Partner with product, enterprise engineering, and architecture teams to deliver scalable mobile-first solutions.
- Oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle of mobile applications (iOS, Android, hybrid platforms).
- Ensure delivery of high-performance, secure, and reliable mobile apps supporting millions of users.
- Lead modernization initiatives, including cloud-native mobile backends, micro-frontends, CI/CD for mobile, and containerization.
- Manage app store compliance, versioning, and release cycles.
- Ensure mobile platforms adhere to enterprise security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee mobile observability, crash analytics, and performance monitoring frameworks.
- Align mobile engineering standards with enterprise engineering governance.
- Lead and mentor mobile engineering teams, including managers, senior developers, and QA engineers.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Build career paths for mobile engineers and ensure upskilling in modern mobile frameworks and cloud-native practices.
- Collaborate with digital channels, product, design, and customer experience teams to shape mobile journeys.
- Act as the technical authority on mobile platforms, influencing business and technology decisions.
- Represent mobile engineering in executive forums, steering committees, and vendor engagements.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline (mandatory).
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA, MSc in Software/IT) – advantageous.
Experience
- 10–12 years’ experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years leading mobile engineering teams.
- Proven track record in delivering large-scale mobile apps with high customer adoption (financial services, fintech, e-commerce).
- Experience with native (Swift, Kotlin), cross-platform (Flutter, React Native), and hybrid mobile frameworks.
- Hands-on exposure to mobile CI/CD pipelines, mobile app security, observability, and performance optimization.
- Experience managing budgets, vendors, and outsourcing partners for mobile engineering delivery.
Preferred Certifications
- Mobile development certifications (Google Associate Android Developer, Apple iOS Developer Program).
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Agile / SAFe certifications (Scrum Master, Product Owner, SAFe Practitioner).
- DevOps certifications (Kubernetes, CI/CD tools).
