Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the DevOps strategy and roadmap for the enterprise.
- Champion a DevSecOps culture, embedding security and compliance into every stage of the SDLC.
- Partner with engineering managers, architects, and product leaders to improve delivery velocity, resilience, and platform reliability.
- Lead modernization initiatives such as cloud-native infrastructure, container orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code.
Platform & Delivery Enablement
- Own and manage CI/CD pipelines, build/release processes, and automation frameworks.
- Ensure observability, monitoring, and logging frameworks are in place for all applications and services.
- Drive adoption of infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
- Oversee the deployment and scaling of systems across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
- Manage platform reliability practices (SRE principles, SLIs/SLOs/SLAs).
Governance, Risk & Compliance
- Ensure DevOps practices comply with security, regulatory, and data protection standards.
- Implement disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response frameworks.
- Govern access management, secrets management, and secure configuration management.
- Align DevOps operations with enterprise ITIL and GRC frameworks.
Leadership & People Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor DevOps engineers, site reliability engineers (SREs), and automation specialists.
- Foster a culture of automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Develop career pathways and succession planning for DevOps talent.
- Encourage knowledge sharing, cross-training, and innovation across DevOps teams.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, and security managers to deliver end-to-end platform reliability.
- Manage relationships with cloud providers, DevOps tooling vendors, and third-party partners.
- Represent DevOps in architecture boards, engineering forums, and executive updates.
- Drive cost optimization and value realization from cloud and DevOps investments.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (mandatory).
- Postgraduate qualification (MBA, MSc in IT/Engineering) – advantageous.
- Professional Certifications (preferred/required): AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer, Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer; Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD); Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef); Security/Compliance certifications (CISSP, CISM, cloud security); Agile/SAFe certifications (Scrum Master, SAFe Practitioner).
Experience
- 8–12 years’ experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or infrastructure roles, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Proven experience building and scaling DevOps practices in enterprise or fintech environments.
- Hands-on expertise with CI/CD, automation, container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), and monitoring tools.
- Strong background in cloud-native architectures and hybrid cloud platforms.
- Experience implementing SRE practices, observability, and incident response frameworks.
- Familiarity with regulated industries (banking, fintech, telecom, healthcare) preferred.
