- We are seeking a Cost Accountant who will also oversee production management and production accounting functions.
- The ideal candidate must have a solid background in accounting, costing, and production processes, with the ability to balance financial accuracy with operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor cost control systems for publishing and printing operations.
- Prepare cost analysis reports, highlighting variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Track expenses, materials usage, labor, and overheads to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Work with procurement to evaluate vendor quotations, negotiate pricing, and ensure cost efficiency.
- Prepare financial forecasts and budgets for production projects.
- Maintain accurate financial records of all production activities.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual production cost reports for management.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company financial policies.
- Support internal and external audits with accurate cost and production data.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee day-to-day publishing production activities.
- Liaise with editorial, design, and printing teams to ensure timely and quality production.
- Develop and monitor production schedules to ensure timely completion of deadlines.
- Coordinate effective processes and timelines to ensure on-time completion of projects.
- Ensure the availability of raw materials (such as paper, ink, and binding materials) in line with production needs.
- Implement quality control measures to maintain product standards.
- Supervise production staff to ensure adherence to safety, efficiency, and productivity targets.
Qualification and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Printing Technology or related field. (Professional qualifications such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent are an added advantage.)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in cost accounting or in Production Management, preferably publishing, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams and oversee operational workflows.
