Position Overview
- The Control Room Operator is responsible for the effective monitoring of all security surveillance systems within the facility.
- This role involves the use of CCTV, alarms, communication and access control systems to ensure real-time detection of suspicious activities, prompt incident reporting, and coordination with ground security personnel to safeguard company assets, staff, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
CCTV Monitoring and Surveillance:
- Monitor live CCTV feeds to detect unusual, suspicious, or illegal activities.
- Monitor alarms, access control systems, and communication devices continuously.
- Track and record incidents, ensuring adequate logging of events.
- Conduct routine checks on cameras to ensure operational functionality.
- Identify, assess, and respond to security breaches, emergencies, or suspicious activities in real time.
- Monitor fire alarms, intrusion alarms, and other emergency systems, ensuring prompt escalation where necessary.
- Dispatch ground security personnel and coordinate their response during incidents.
- Assist with visitor and staff access management through control systems.
Incident Reporting and Response:
- Immediately alert the CSO and on-ground security team of incidents or security breaches
- Maintain an incident logbook and prepare detailed daily reports.
- Assist in the investigation by providing recorded footage and analysis.
- Maintain clear and accurate communication logs and shift handover notes.
- Provide real-time updates and situational awareness to supervisors, management, and emergency services.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information securely.
Coordination and Communication:
- Maintain constant communication with the CSO and other security personnel.
- Support access control monitoring at entry and exit points.
- Provide real-time intelligence to guide response teams.
System Maintenance and Compliance:
- Conduct routine checks on CCTV, alarms, comms, and access control systems and report faults promptly.
- Ensure proper storage and security of recorded data.
- Comply with company policies, SOP and confidentiality guidelines
- Follow established protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for incident handling.
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Accuracy and timeliness of incident reports
- CCTV uptime and monitoring efficiency.
- Effective coordination with ground security.
- Compliance with reporting and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a BSc/HND preferred
- At least 2-3 years’ experience in a similar control room operations or security role.
- Strong knowledge of CCTV systems, access control, and other security technologies.
- Ability to remain alert and focused for long hours (shift work may be required).
- Excellent communication, observation, and incident reporting skills
- Familiarity with security monitoring technology and emergency response procedures.
- Relevant certification in security operations/control room monitoring is an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in CCTV monitoring software
- Strong observational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and coordination abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under pressure.
- Knowledge of security systems (CCTV, alarms, access control, two-way radios).
- Proficiency in report writing and incident documentation.
- Integrity, reliability, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office and security software).
Working Conditions:
- Shift-based role (including nights, weekends, and public holidays).
- Requires prolonged periods of monitoring screens and communication devices.
- High-alert and fast-paced environment during emergencies.
- Monday -Saturdays (8pm – 6pm).
Salary
N180,000 - N250,000 Monthly.
