Job Description
The Endoscopy Nurse will provide high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures. The role involves preparing patients and equipment, assisting physicians during procedures, monitoring patients, and ensuring adherence to infection control and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare endoscopy suites, equipment, and instruments before procedures.
- Provide pre- and post-procedure patient care, including patient education and support.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and respond promptly to any complications.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Manage endoscopy equipment, ensuring proper cleaning, sterilization, and maintenance.
- Participate in continuous professional development and training activities.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse (RN) with current practicing license from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year in an endoscopy or gastroenterology unit.
- Certification or training in endoscopy nursing.
- Strong knowledge of infection control, patient safety, and endoscopic procedures.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in high-pressure situations.
