Duties and Responsibilities




  • Establish and implement library and information policy procedures.

  • Develop and manage a convenient and accessible library services.

  • Develop library rules and regulations for library users.

  • Establish and manage a budget for library.

  • Assess students' textbooks and place orders from publishers and suppliers.

  • Issue out textbooks to students and manage a textbook book rental system.

  • Compile and procure relevant materials to stock the library.

  • Maintain a decent and sequential organization of library materials.

  • Respond to daily needs of library users.

  • Encourage students and teachers to make use of the library.

  • Assisting readers to use computers.

  • Monitor borrowing and returning of books.

  • Evaluate materials to determine outdated and unused items to be discarded



Qualification, Experience, Skills and Competencies




  • First degree in Library Studies or equivalent qualification

  • Professional certificate in library and information studies

  • Two – five (2-5) years experience

  • Ability to manage a library and its collections

  • Research skills

  • Organizational skills

  • Strong IT skills and the use of database and internet

  • Presentation and verbal communication skills

  • Teamwork and management skills
