Job Description
Job Purpose
- Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment in the refinery and power generation areas to ensure uninterrupted power supply and safe operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot low, medium, and high-voltage electrical systems (415 V, 6.6 kV, 11 kV).
- Perform routine maintenance of switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, and generators.
- Support power generation and distribution for gas turbine and HRSG systems.
- Inspect and maintain excitation systems, battery banks, UPS, and protective relays.
- Diagnose faults using multimeters, insulation testers, and relay testing equipment.
- Maintain motor control circuits for pumps, fans, conveyors, and process units.
- Assist in installation of new electrical panels, cable terminations, and earthing systems.
- Carry out calibration and testing of protection relays and synchronization panels.
- Ensure compliance with refinery electrical safety codes (LOTO, PTW).
- Maintain documentation of all electrical maintenance work.
Qualifications
- Trade Test 1/ National Diploma in Electrical or Power Engineering.
- 5–10 years of hands-on experience in refinery, thermal, or gas turbine power plants.
- Certification in Electrical Safety, HV Switching, or OEM turbine systems is desirable.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of electrical distribution in refinery or power plant environments.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in motor control and turbine generator systems.
- Familiarity with SCADA/DCS-integrated electrical control systems.
- Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, control schematics, and loop drawings.
- Understanding of safety practices in hazardous/explosive areas (ATEX/IECEx).
