Job Summary
- The Account Officer will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, processing payments, and ensuring compliance with accounting procedures and company policies.
- The ideal candidate must be highly organized, analytical, and skilled in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Recordkeeping & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow statements.
- Track company expenditures and ensure alignment with approved budgets.
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Process invoices, receipts, and vendor payments promptly and accurately.
- Monitor and reconcile accounts payable and receivable balances.
- Follow up with clients and vendors on outstanding payments and ensure timely settlements.
Banking & Reconciliation:
- Manage daily bank transactions, deposits, and withdrawals.
- Reconcile bank statements with company financial records.
- Liaise with banks and financial institutions on account-related matters.
Compliance & Audit Support:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Assist external auditors by providing accurate documentation and reports.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and safeguard company assets.
Administrative & Cross-Departmental Support:
- Collaborate with other departments (Procurement, Operations, HR) to ensure proper financial documentation.
- Support payroll processing, staff reimbursements, and vendor account management.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of financial systems and internal controls.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Minimum of B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a corporate or project-based environment.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Good understanding of Nigerian tax regulations and basic financial reporting standards.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities.
- Must be proactive, disciplined, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
