Job Objective




  • We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Fund Accountant with strong financial services experience to oversee fund accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • The ideal candidate will bring expertise in fund management, investment accounting, and stakeholder reporting, with the ability to work cross-functionally to support the organization’s growth.



Key Responsibilities

Fund Accounting & Reporting:




  • Prepare, review, and deliver timely and accurate financial statements for funds under management.

  • Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly NAV calculations and reconciliations.

  • Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and relevant financial regulations.



Financial Controls & Compliance:




  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and audit requirements.

  • Liaise with external auditors, custodians, and regulators to support audits and compliance reviews.

  • Monitor changes in financial regulations and ensure ongoing compliance.



Investment Operations Support:




  • Reconcile investment portfolios, including cash, positions, and market valuations.

  • Track fund performance and prepare analysis for internal stakeholders and investors.

  • Support portfolio managers with accurate data and reporting for investment decision-making.



Process Improvement & Leadership:




  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in fund accounting.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accountants on fund accounting practices.

  • Contribute to system enhancements and adoption of best practices in reporting and compliance.



KPIs




  • Accuracy and timeliness of fund NAV calculations and reporting.

  • Compliance with regulatory and audit requirements.

  • Quality of financial analysis and insights provided to stakeholders.

  • Efficiency improvements in fund accounting processes.

  • Contribution to successful audits and risk mitigation.



Qualifications & Experience




  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Professional accounting qualification (ICAN, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent) required.

  • 5–7 years of relevant fund accounting experience, ideally in financial services, asset management, or investment banking.

  • In-depth knowledge of IFRS, fund structures, and regulatory frameworks in Nigeria.



Key Skills & Competencies:




  • Strong technical knowledge of fund accounting and investment instruments.

  • Advanced proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills for liaising with auditors, regulators, and stakeholders.
