Our client is a reputable legal firm, delivering outstanding legal services to a broad range of companies, private clients and governments. They are currently looking to hire a Mid/Senior Associate ( IPT & EGM) in Lagos.


Job Responsibilities


Employment Global Mobility:



  • Execute instructions with respect to:

  • Advising on non-contentious issues arising from the employment of Nigerians including, employment laws, terms and conditions, employment structures, benefits etc.

  • Advice in respect of contentious issues arising from the employment of Nigerians including alleged wrongful activity at the workplace, harassment and discrimination etc

  • Advice on compliance with applicable laws in the engagement of expatriates within and outside the Nigeria Free Trade Zones on long and short-term basis including

  • transfers and secondments, disengagement, etc.

  • Drafting and reviewing a range of employment documents including offer letters, contracts of employment, collective bargaining agreements, non-solicitation and circumvention

  • Legal advice and representation during proceedings at the National Industrial Court of Nigeria and any other dispute resolution forum.

  • Developing a working knowledge of the legal principles, statutory and case law that govern the employer-employee relationships and relevant industry practices is required.


Intellectual Property:



  • Advice on non-contentious matters pertaining to intellectual property laws (copyright, trademarks, patents and designs), ownership, protection and exploitation of

  • intellectual property rights and assets, consumer protection, advertising, sponsorships and regulatory matters.

  • Legal advice and representation during proceedings at the opposition department of the Trademark Registry, the High Court and Federal High Courts and any other dispute

  • resolution forum.

  • Drafting and reviewing a range of intellectual property related documents including patent and designs application documents, non-disclosure, licensing, assignment and co-

  • existence agreements, sponsorship, branding, product placements, and merchandizing agreements.


Data privacy & protection



  • Having and or developing a good understanding of the applicable laws and their provisions.

  • Reviewing client policies, procedures and strategies and identifying deficiencies and areas of non-compliance therein and advising on remedies.

  • Filing of periodic reports with NITDA and or any other applicable agencies.

  • Reviewing contracts, and agreements in respect of data privacy and data protection related transactions.


Media Sport & entertainment



  • Reviewing contracts, and agreements in respect of MSE transactions.

  • Drafting of notices, letters, reports, applications etc.

  • Ability to understand legal enquiries, questionnaires, scenarios, request for advice etc., applying the provisions of the law to those enquiries, questionnaires, scenarios, etc.

  • Advising clients on queries and enquiries from regulatory authorities and on potential disputes with 3rd parties.


Information technology



  • Drafting contracts, policies, procedures, and strategies on behalf of clients.

  • Preparing legal opinions and advice on legal and commercial issues affecting the client’s business.

  • Reviewing client policies, procedures and strategies and identifying deficiencies and areas of non-compliance therein and advising on remedies.

  • Reviewing contracts and agreements in respect of IT related transactions.


General /Business Development



  • Conducting detailed research

  • Developing presentation skills using available resources, and delivery such presentations to clients and at other public/private

  • Identifying business development opportunities, pursuing and or participating in efforts in this regard.

  • Keeping up to date with development, policies etc. in the relevant areas.


Qualifications /Requirements



  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Call to the Nigerian Bar (BL) minimum;

  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ post call to Bar qualification with employment and litigation experience

  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work remotely

  • Excellent leadership and Management skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail.
