Job Description
Duration: 6 months with extension & high chance to be permanent if he 100% fit
Authority: Delegated authority by CSUP to execute assigned responsibilities
Reporting to: CSUP
NOTE: The responsibilities include the main General and Special responsibilities listed below. In addition the OIM or any superior may assign any other tasks to be performed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists the CSUP in planning and execution of maintenance and operational work tasks within the deck department
- Instruct and supervise the Able Seamen, Ordinary Seamen in accordance with company safety policy and quality standards
- Act as dedicated Crane Operator (see Crane Operator job description)
- Units HSE Representative
SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- To be fully familiar with regulations and work procedures applicable to the task to be executed
- To execute assigned tasks in conformance with safe work procedures in accordance with instructions given by the Area Supervisor
- Familiar with the PTW System
- To ensure that work such as entry into enclosed spaces, hot work and work aloft is not undertaken without permission from the Area Supervisor
- To train all his subordinates in the various work tasks as required through close supervision of each individual performance
- To meet with CSUP prior to start of daily work to discuss works schedule and job instructions
- To delegate work and job instructions to deck crew and to ensure that this work is carried out safely and efficiently
- To keep all deck department tools, equipment, stores etc in good and tidy order and to maintain stock records and advises on stock orders
- Instruct and supervise deck crew for proper lift transfer techniques, and safety related issues
- Ensure that good housekeeping is maintained throughout deck department
- Assist in the maintenance of lifting appliances, cranes, running gear, slings, shackles, etc.
- Assist in mooring and unmooring of export tankers
- Assist with cargo loading and offloading operations as required
- Assist in helicopter operations as required
- Assist in the maintenance of process, engine room or other equipment as may be required
CERTIFICATES AND TRAINING

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years as an Able Seaman Deck, preferably on-board tanker ships
- Should have operated a Crane with Crane Level 3 Certificate
- Good leadership, be a good supervisor and good communicator
- Good English written and spoken
