- Under the direction of the LUF Manager, the candidate shall prepare, analyze, and review financial statements and budgets. Prepare management reports and perform internal control reviews and some accounting functions. The candidate shall train, support, and assist priesthood leaders on Local Unit Finance, Membership, and Statistical reporting. Ensure priesthood leaders are conversant with and adhere to financial, membership, and statistical policies and processes of the Church
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze budgets and local unit financial statements
- Prepare area-specific statistical analysis, trend analysis, and other reports for management
- Perform on-site and off-site internal control reviews and identify trends and potential areas of concerns
- Provides training to local unit leaders and clerks
- Assist Area leadership with boundary and leader proposals.
- Follows up with pending items that headquarters is not able resolve
- May be required to perform some accounting functions due to staff size or limitations. However, the focus of the position is gathering financial information, analyzing it, recommending financial corrective action, conducting investigations, and training priesthood leaders.
Qualifications
- Must be a Temple worthy member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Minimum of six years of related professional experience in accounting, auditing, business management, or finance.
- MBA and/or professional certification (ACCA, CMA, CIMA, CPA, etc.) is preferred.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of basic software applications. Experience with local unit record-keeping systems and Church member-facing applications will be advantageous.
- Working knowledge of the Church General Handbook.
- Working knowledge of local unit record-keeping policies, processes, and tools.
- Excellent analytical, planning, and presentation skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ecclesiastical experience as a priesthood leader or organizational leader is preferred.
