About the Role;




  • We are seeking a highly organized and experienced Customs Clearance Specialist to oversee import documentation, manage customs processes, and ensure seamless movement of goods from port to destination. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of customs regulations, import/export documentation, and excellent stakeholder management skills to drive compliance, speed, and efficiency across the entire clearance process.



Key Responsibilities




  • Prepare, review, and process all import documentation.

  • Secure timely regulatory import licenses and permits.

  • Coordinate and monitor international transportation and shipping activities.

  • Handle all SONCAP and compliance-related documentation.

  • Liaise with banks and Nigeria Customs Service to secure Pre-Arrival Assessment Reports (PAAR) promptly.

  • Obtain rotation numbers and initiate pre-clearance documentation activities.

  • Ensure prompt and accurate payment of import duties and taxes.

  • Collaborate with customs brokers and logistics service providers for expedited clearance and delivery.

  • Track and improve customs clearance lead time in line with SLA.

  • Resolve customs queries at seaports, airports, and post-clearance audits.

  • Maintain effective relationships with key maritime stakeholders — SON, NAFDAC, NPQS, terminal operators, and shipping lines.

  • Monitor and track transportation and haulage of goods from port to warehouse or designated sites.

  • Liaise with logistics service providers (LSP) on invoice validation and resolution of billing issues.

  • Maintain accurate records of all LSP refunds and ECD handovers to finance or projects teams.



Requirements & Skills



Service Competencies:

  • Strong coordination, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.

  • Good teamwork, learning agility, and initiative.

  • You Conflict resolution skills with high emotional intelligence and diplomacy.



Professional Knowledge:




  • Strong grasp of supply chain, procurement, and international trade principles.

  • Sound understanding of WCO/WTO trade regulations, Nigeria Import & Export Guidelines, and Customs Service Regulations.

  • Expertise in HS Code classification, customs valuation, and dispute resolution.

  • Experience with Free Trade Zone and Bonded Warehouse operations.

  • Familiarity with the Transire Customs Clearance process.

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience managing customs and regulatory processes in Nigeria.

  • Possession of at least one international certification in Supply Chain Management, International Logistics & Transportation, or Procurement is a strong advantage
