Role Overview
- This is a critical, high-impact role within the Group Finance department.
- You will be the go-to person for all matters related to transactional data, working across all business departments to develop a deep understanding of our data structure.
- The core focus of this role is to ensure Group Finance has access to up-to-date, accurate dashboards and KPIs.
- You will be responsible for maintaining our central KPI database, reviewing definitions, and driving the business towards a single source of truth for all financial and operational metrics.
- You will also support the team with ad-hoc business intelligence analytics to drive strategic decisions.
Responsibilities
Data Quality & Integrity:
- Perform end-to-end reconciliation of transactional data across all key systems (e.g., core banking platform [Nerve], ERP [D365/Xero], and management accounts) to ensure 100% data completeness and accuracy.
- Validate that product transaction flows and volumes match financial records.
- Support the migration of transactional data from our legacy systems onto ERP and legacy accounting systems.
- Provide critical support to the Finance team during audits, conducting ad-hoc analysis on revenue recognition, historical manual adjustments, and other data requests.
- Drive data consistency by identifying, explaining, and eliminating manual adjustments, ensuring all processes are automated and auditable.
- Govern our BI environment by decommissioning unused reports (e.g., in Looker) to establish and maintain a single source of truth for all reporting.
KPI Database & Dashboard Management:
- Own, maintain, and enhance the central Finance KPI database, establishing it as the single source of truth for Finance, Growth, Product, and other departments.
- Consolidate existing reports (e.g., Ops Report, Performance Report) into the central KPI database to streamline reporting.
- Prepare and automate dynamic dashboards for the visual representation of Management Accounts.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive data dictionary, documenting all KPI definitions and making them accessible to the entire organization.
- Automate month-end and month-to-date (MTD) KPI updates for all key metrics.
- Collaborate with finance leadership to design and build MTD Budget vs. Actuals dashboards for periodic, real-time reporting to the Executive Committee (ExCo).
Ad-Hoc BI Analysis:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for ad-hoc analysis and data requests from Finance and other departments, investigating trends and answering key business questions.
- Work collaboratively with Finance, Growth, and Product teams to investigate and report on trends in key financial metrics.
- Support the Growth team by providing finance-related data points required to develop an accurate marketing attribution model.
- Analyze and present financial metrics in response to queries from town halls or other leadership forums.
Business Development & Finance Operations Support:
- Partner with the Finance and Product teams to ensure any new revenue stream or product is correctly integrated from a transactional data perspective and can be accurately reported in legacy accounting systems and ERP.
- Play a key role in the month-end closing process, ensuring all transaction-level revenue and metrics are accurate and reconciled.
- Help define, build, and visualize the company's revenue model within our BI tools.
- Contribute to business development and expansion-related calls as the data expert, when required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 5+ years of experience in a Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, or Financial Analysis role.
- Experience in fintech, banking, or a high-growth digital/tech company is strongly preferred.
- Expert-level SQL skills for data extraction, manipulation, and complex analysis are essential.
- Advanced proficiency in BI and visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Power BI, Tableau) with a proven track record of building impactful dashboards.
- Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting, revenue recognition, FX, and management accounts.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Xero) and data warehouses/cubes.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to take initiative and manage multiple projects independently.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
