Job Summary




  • We are seeking a skilled Fiber Field Technician who will be responsible for the installation, splicing, testing, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic cables and related infrastructure.

  • The role involves supporting network rollouts, troubleshooting connectivity issues, ensuring service quality, and providing on-site technical support to customers and internal teams.



Responsibilities




  • Install, splice, terminate, and test fiber optic cables for backbone, access, and last-mile connections.

  • Perform aerial and underground fiber installation in compliance with safety standards.

  • Carry out customer premises equipment (CPE) installation and ensure proper connectivity.

  • Diagnose and repair fiber cuts, faults, and service interruptions.

  • Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing for link verification.

  • Provide timely resolution of service-affecting issues and escalate complex faults when necessary.

  • Support NOC and optimization teams in maintaining network uptime and performance.

  • Assist in planned maintenance activities such as link upgrades, re-routing, and preventive maintenance.

  • Document and update network records, splicing diagrams, and test results.

  • Interact with customers during installation and fault resolution, ensuring professionalism and customer satisfaction.

  • Educate customers on proper use and care of installed services.

  • Adhere to company safety standards and regulatory requirements during field operations.

  • Ensure proper use of tools, vehicles, and protective equipment.



Requirements




  • B.Sc. in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Minimum 2 – 3 years of hands-on experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance (preferably in an ISP or telecom environment).

  • Key Competencies:

  • Proficiency with OTDR, power meters, splicing machines, and other fiber testing tools.

  • Strong knowledge of fiber cable construction, termination, and splicing techniques.

  • Understanding of GPON, FTTH, Metro Fiber, and backbone infrastructure.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and in challenging environments.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours (weekends, and holidays if needed).
