Role Overview



We are seeking a highly driven and strategic Head of Sales (Telesales Operations) to lead and scale its telesales division. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, people management, and performance optimization skills with a track record of building successful telesales teams and delivering consistent revenue growth. You will be responsible for developing the structure, systems, and strategies needed to grow a small telesales team of three into a high-performing department of over 30 agents within 12–18 months.



Note: Prior insurance experience is not mandatory. Full product training will be provided. What matters most is your ability to build, lead, and grow a results-driven telesales team.



Key Responsibilities



Team Development & Structure




  • Recruit, train, and onboard the initial telesales team, with a target to scale up to 30+ agents within 12–18 months.

  • Design sales scripts, objection-handling frameworks, and standard call protocols.

  • Set up CRM systems, dialer tools, and reporting dashboards.

  • Define KPIs, commission structures, and performance management frameworks.



Leadership & Coaching




  • Provide daily coaching, feedback, and performance monitoring to enhance team productivity.

  • Conduct daily huddles, weekly performance reviews, and monthly appraisals.

  • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and excellence.

  • Maintain high standards of professionalism in client communication and service delivery.



Sales Strategy & Performance Management




  • Develop and execute telesales strategies to meet and exceed revenue targets.

  • Analyze KPIs such as call volumes, conversion rates, and sales per agent to drive improvement.

  • Optimize lead pipelines and conversion funnels for efficiency.

  • Prepare periodic sales reports and recommend strategic improvements.



Systems & Process Development




  • Document and standardize all telesales processes and training materials.

  • Create career progression pathways (Agent → Senior Agent → Team Lead).

  • Lead workforce planning, recruitment, and retention strategies.

  • Foster a high-performance, data-driven, and inclusive work culture.



Key Deliverables (First 90 Days)




  • Recruit and onboard the first three telesales agents.

  • Launch telesales operations for motor, health, and life insurance products.

  • Implement CRM tracking and real-time performance dashboards.

  • Achieve conversion targets: 2–5% (cold leads) and 15–25% (warm leads).

  • Present a 12-month telesales growth plan to senior management.



Requirements & Qualifications



Education:




  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related fields

  • Professional certifications in Sales, Marketing, or Business Management (e.g., CIIN, NIMN, Sandler, etc.) are an added advantage.



Experience:




  • Minimum of 5–7 years in telesales or call centre management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

  • Proven experience in building and scaling telesales teams from the ground up.

  • Demonstrated success in exceeding revenue targets.

  • Proficiency in CRM tools such as HubSpot, Salesforce, or Zoho.

  • Strong analytical understanding of key sales metrics (conversion rate, acquisition cost, revenue per agent, etc.).



Core Competencies:




  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong communication, persuasion, and interpersonal abilities.

  • Data-driven approach and strong analytical mindset.

  • High energy, resilience, and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.

  • Fluency in English (knowledge of Yoruba is an advantage).



Compensation & Benefits




  • Base Salary: ₦700,000 – ₦900,000 Monthly (based on experience)

  • Performance Bonus: Up to 30% annually based on team targets
