Job Summary
- Our client is seeking a proactive and technically sound Mechanical Engineer to join her growing engineering team
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, installing, testing, and maintaining mechanical systems and equipment that support oil and gas operations.
- This role requires hands-on experience with industrial systems, strong analytical thinking, and a commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards in line with industry best practices.
- Preferred candidates will be resident in Port Harcourt, Rivers State or willing to relocate as the role is at Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and oversee mechanical systems and installations for oil and gas facilities.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, equipment specifications, and engineering documents.
- Supervise the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and piping systems.
- Conduct performance tests, troubleshooting, and root cause analyses of mechanical failures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure seamless project execution.
- Monitor contractors’ work to ensure compliance with design, quality, and safety standards.
- Provide technical input in tender processes, feasibility studies, and cost estimation.
- Ensure adherence to HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) procedures and regulatory standards.
- Participate in project planning, scheduling, and progress reporting.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.Eng / B.Sc) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 5–10 years’ relevant experience in mechanical engineering within the oil and gas, petrochemical, or energy industry.
- COREN and NSE membership (mandatory).
- Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, PDMS, etc.).
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards (API, ASME, ASTM, ISO, and NACE).
- Proven experience in rotating and static equipment, piping systems, and maintenance planning.
- Certification in Project Management or HSE will be an added advantage.
Person Specification:
- Excellent understanding of mechanical systems, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and machine design.
- Strong ability to diagnose, analyze, and solve engineering challenges efficiently.
- Capable of leading site teams and collaborating effectively across departments.
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Precision in design, documentation, and execution of projects.
- Ability to identify and implement innovative engineering solutions.
- Works effectively under pressure and adapts to fast-paced oil and gas environments.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to corporate goals.
