Job Summary
- We are seeking a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team.
- The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, ensuring that projects are completed within budget.
- The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with procurement officer, architects, engineers, and project managers to provide accurate cost estimates, financial reports, and cost control measures throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Estimation:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, and overheads.
- Analyze project plans and specifications to assess the financial implications.
Budget Management:
- Develop and maintain project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial constraints.
- Monitor expenses and prepare regular budget reports for stakeholders.
Tendering and Procurement:
- Prepare tender documents and assist in the tendering process.
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the best prices.
Cost Control and Reporting:
- Monitor project progress and costs, identifying any discrepancies or potential financial issues.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
Valuation and Payments:
- Conduct valuations of work completed and prepare payment applications for contractors and subcontractors.
- Assess variations and claims and provide recommendations for approval.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure project objectives are met.
- Attend project meetings and provide expert advice on cost-related matters.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, and industry standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in legislation affecting construction costs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., RICS, NIQS) is preferred and an added advantage.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
- Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
