Job Description






Responsibilities

Project Execution & Supervision:




  • Set out levels and supervise construction activities in line with approved drawings.

  • Interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and resolve technical queries.

  • Supervise site works including foundation, blockwork, reinforcement, concrete, formwork, roofing, plumbing, and finishing works.

  • Ensure quality control in line with Nigerian building codes and company standards.



Planning & Coordination:




  • Prepare daily and weekly work plans and allocate tasks to supervisors and artisans.

  • Monitor subcontractor performance and enforce workmanship standards.

  • Coordinate material deliveries and ensure proper storage and usage to prevent wastage.



Documentation & Reporting:




  • Prepare daily site reports, progress reports, site diaries, and material requisitions.

  • Keep accurate records of work done for valuations and contractor claims.

  • Report challenges and delays to Project Manager and recommend solutions.



Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):




  • Enforce compliance with HSE policies as per Nigeria Labour Act and industry standards.

  • Conduct daily toolbox talks and ensure workers use PPE.

  • Identify and mitigate site risks proactively.



Stakeholder Engagement:




  • Interface with clients, consultants, quantity surveyors, and regulatory authorities.

  • Support statutory approvals and regulatory compliance (e.g., LASBCA, COREN guidelines).

  • Participate in site meetings and progress reviews.



KPIs




  • Project delivery within timeline and budget

  • Quality of construction works (minimal reworks)

  • HSE compliance and risk control

  • Material cost control and waste reduction

  • Accurate and timely reporting

  • Team coordination and site productivity



Requirements




  • B.Eng / B.Tech / HND in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, or Construction Engineering.

  • Advantageous: COREN (Registered Engineer), NSE, NIOB, CORBON.

  • Minimum 5 - 10 years practical site engineering experience in real estate, roads, or commercial building projects in Nigeria



Technical Skills:




  • Site setting out (using dumpy level/total station), concrete works, structural supervision, finishing quality management.

  • Familiarity with Nigerian Building Code, FMW&H standards, SON regulations, and local planning authorities.



Software Competencies:




  • AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel (BOQ tracking), MS Project (scheduling).



Key Selection Criteria:




  • Proven experience supervising residential or commercial building projects in Nigeria.

  • Strong understanding of structural and architectural drawings.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage contractors and artisans effectively.

  • Ability to enforce site safety and work quality standards.

  • Proficiency in engineering software and site documentation reporting.

  • Strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure in site conditions.
